Low Impact Aikido

(No rolling/falling, or rough stuff!) Friday evenings 6:30-7:30 PM with Instructor Claude Geeroms Sensei, 6th degree black belt, 50 years in the art.

Who is it for?

Low Impact Aikido is for those who are interested in a softer and slower application of Aikido principles, or who might enjoy some movement in a martial arts context.

Most practices will be lighter, low to medium speed, and one-on-one. You will practice mostly with one partner, but there may be practices with two or more people interacting with you at the same time:

  • Balance practices and “games” (games=practices that are also fun)
  • Timing practices emphasizing connection and energy flow
  • Study non-resistance principles; non-escalatory escapes from various grabs and pushes
  • Peripheral awareness practices
  • Avoidance practices (avoiding pushes and wrist grabs in a graceful way)

This is a FREE CLASS (though minor contributions to help pay our utilities would be welcome for those who can easily afford to pay a small amount.)

Also, you can “sit out” anytime you feel you need to, for whatever reason. This is an informal class!

Arrive 15 minutes early to your first session to complete our standard release form.
